Born and raised in a rural setting (Mangaya Village) in Limpopo, South Africa. I always had an inquisitive mind on why people behave the way they do, this became more fascinating when l enrolled for Psychology course as a first-year student at the University. l fell in love with it and decided to make it one of my major courses. Although l pursued a different career stream which led me to work in three different spheres of government as a civil servant for the past 3 decades, my childhood intuitive mind of wanting to understand why people behave the way they do never diminished. I went back to university to pursue my childhood dream; I completed my Honours degree in Psychology (Counselling) at the university of South Africa (UNISA). As an adult and professional my interest now is focusing on supporting people who are struggling with mental health related issues.
I am affectionately known as Azwi. My experience in counselling includes working with university students, NGOs and other community structures. I often participate in workshops as a speaker on mental health related topics, target groups being professionals, youth and women. I believe that people should thrive in life and not just survive, and they often achieve this when change happens from inside out. I strongly believe in the client-centered approach in counselling as I believe it fosters personal growth and empowerment.
